Spring flowered ideas in floral arranging
Dossiers bursting with sunny inspiration with flowers and plants The clocks have gone forward, and longer days and lighter evenings are finally here. It’s the week that marks the start of a new season: Spring. Since the beginning of this week, consumers have been able to immerse themselves in a host of articles, beautiful photography, craft projects and a video linked to the season. In other words: a feast of sunny ideas for flowers and plants combined with living, eating and fashion. Our spring dossier is inspired by ‘hanami’: an Oriental open-air picnic to mark the start of Spring. So we focus articles about topics including a Spring brunch with colourful Asian bites, a home fragrance made with flowers and plants, and an urgently needed indoor and outdoor Spring-clean.
‘Hanami’ as a source of inspiration
In the past, people looked mainly to the West for trends, but nowadays we prefer to look at Asia, because that’s where it’s all happening. With its centuries-old traditions and refinement, Asia is gaining ground again over the sober minimalism of our Scandinavian neighbours.
In Japan there’s an ancient custom whereby people view the beauty of flowers – particularly sakura cherry blossom – during a hanami open-air picnic under a blossom-covered tree. Hanami takes place in Asia when the cherry blossom announces the arrival of spring. We’ve been inspired by this to create a Western version: an indoor/outdoor brunch with the doors wide open as we hope for warming rays of sunshine. Cherry blossom, chrysanthemums, magnolias and other classic spring flowers and plants are the radiant centrepiece in the new spring dossier.
